ERSAF Consultants implements projects following the Microsoft SureStep methodology.  Microsoft SureStep defines the phases and deliverables for a project in a standardized way.  The following details the phases and the deliverables per phase:



The Diagnostics phase represents the presales phase of the project.  The main goals of the Diagnostics phase are the following tasks and deliverables:

  • Definition of project scope

  • Definition of global project budget

  • High level FIT/GAP analysis

  • High level solution architecture and design


The main deliverable of the Diagnostics phase is a detailed proposal for the overall project implementation, detailing all required license and services cost.


The Analysis phase represents the official start of the implementation.  Key activities and deliverables include:

  • Fit Gap Analysis Spreadsheet—compares your requirements with Microsoft Dynamics functionality and identifies any gaps where customizations are needed

  • Functional Requirements Document—involves in-depth checklists that help us developed detailed requirements by role and function

  • Project Plan—captures milestones, accountabilities, roles, etc., to set clear expectations and keep us on track

  • Change Control Plan—determines how we’ll identify, review and approve any scope or requirements changes

  • Communications and Training Plans—helps us establish communication channels and the types of training we’ll need for different key stakeholders and broad users

  • Development, Quality & Testing Standards—establishes standards for how we’ll ensure the quality of customization development and solution design to meet your requirements

  • Future State Business Process Workflows—documents how your core business processes will be accomplished with the new Microsoft Dynamics solution


In the Design phase we will configure your solution and design customizations needed to meet your requirements.  Key activities and deliverables include:

  • Risks and Issues Management—using proven Project Management Institute processes to help us identify, work through and avoid risks and issues

  • Core Team Training—on new solution processes, including how their processes will change

  • Create Test Scripts by role and function—to ensure the solution meets your critical business process requirements

  • Conduct Feature Testing—to ensure your critical business processes are complete and streamlined in the new solution

  • Create Technical Design Document—to capture detailed requirements for any customizations that need to be developed

  • Begin Data Migration Design—to map out the process that will be used to migrate data from your current solution to your new solution


In the Development phase, your complete solution will be built and configured.  Key activities and deliverables include:

  • Determine Security Roles—to define which roles in your company have different types of access to specific functionality

  • Complete System Configuration and ISV Solution Setup—to determine detailed settings for all system configuration screens

  • Finalize Customization Code--to complete any customizations you need to meet unique requirements

  • Conduct Acceptance Testing—to ensure your new solution meets your functionality requirements

  • Begin Developing Data Migration Scripts—to plan detailed process and timing of data migration to your new solution


In the Deployment phase, all our teamwork comes together in the transition to your new Microsoft Dynamics solution.  Key activities and deliverables include:

  • End User Training—to prepare all employees who’ll be using the new solution

  • Final System Readiness—to plan for go live

  • Final Acceptance Testing—to ensure all requirements are met

  • Plan for Go-Live Cutover—to determine specific timing of go-live cutover

  • Final Data Migration—to ensure all system data is migrated to the new solution

  • Go-Live—when you’ll be running totally on your new solution


In the Operation phase, we’ll close the project and identify any ongoing support and transition assistance you need. Key activities and deliverables include:

  • Provide Post Go-Live Support

  • Review Deliverables against SOW and Close Out Project

  • Establish Ongoing Quality and Testing Strategy

  • Conduct Disaster Recovery Test
